Accessible nature activities in Kent

What is Wild with Wheels?

Our project offers safe and accessible routes for guided, interactive nature walks and experiences for people with disabilities and impairments.

Who can join our free walks?

We are fully Inclusive, so welcome adults and children from all walks of life with any ability.

Our walks are designed with wheelchair and mobility scooter users in mind so are accessible for all.

Our nature walks are also suitable for people with

  • mobility limitations
  • chronic illnesses & hidden disabilities
  • hearing/sight impairments
  • neurodiverse / learning disabilities
  • mental health challenges
  • emotional and sensory needs
  • older people
  • lone new parents
  • non verbal or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Language) students

Our guided walks offer engagement, inspiration, and greater awareness of nature and the landscape. Such experiences are too often inaccessible to the disabled community.

People taking part benefit from positive effects on physical, emotional, and mental health well-being. The walks also help rekindle and create new social connections - vital for those who may feel isolated from other inaccessible walking groups.

Our founder and mobility scooter user, Gini Mitchell, carefully chose our locations for natural, historical and cultural interest.

Our accessible nature walks offer connections to geology and local wildlife - much of it unique to the Kent Downs National Landscape You'll also be close to local produce and amenities.

Most walks take place somewhere along the wonderful Kent Heritage Coastline - voted the 4th best place to travel in the world in 2022 by the famous Lonely Planet guides.
